Barriers to Prosperity
One of the barriers to prosperity for many Christians is thinking they don't have a right to it. Some may harbor feelings of guilt or unworthiness resulting from past transgressions. They ask themselves "Why would God want to do something for me?" - Not realizing God wants to bless them.
Let me ask you an odd question...
So when you get caught up in wrongdoing or you get out of alignment with God's will for your life, do the same thing. Get up and go take a shower in God's forgiveness. Otherwise, your transgressions will become barriers to prosperity.
2 Chronicles 24:20 says...
20Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the
priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus says God:
In other words, when you commit transgressions against God's Word, you cannot prosper. These transgressions become your barriers to prosperity. Therefore, you can't afford to ignore your past transgressions, you have to deal with them. So although you may fall down 100 times, make up your mind to get up 101 times and keep moving forward!
Because God's attitude toward your transgressions is this: "Come and get cleaned up, and let's pick up where you left off".
1 John 1:9 says...
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
And Proverbs 28:13 says...
13He who covers his sins will not prosper,
Everyone will fall at some point. The Bible says no one is without sin. However, the key is to confess your wrongdoing and then turn away from it completely. Go in a different direction. Don't run from God. Instead run to God. He is merciful.
God doesn't want you to get stuck in the mud. He has someplace He wants to you to be and something He wants you to do.
So pray and believe God's promises that He will forgive you and will not remember your transgressions anymore. Here's a model prayer you can consider:
Father God, I thank You that through the Blood of Jesus, I have a right to receive forgiveness of all my sins. I thank You that by the Blood of Jesus, and because I have made the decision to confess my sins and forsake them, I will prosper. I declare right now that the time of repentance is at hand. I will turn from the things that separate me from God and from prosperity. I repent of all sin, in Jesus's name. I declare that I am forgiven. I am innocent. I have wronged no man. My sins have been blotted out, and I thank You, Lord, that I will not be condemned by the sins of my past. Jesus has washed my past away, and I am free from the things that are behind me. Amen!
