Prosperity Theology

Prosperity theology starts with a definition of true prosperity. In his book entitled "The Laws of Prosperity" Kenneth Copeland defines true prosperity as "the ability to use God's power to meet the needs of mankind in any realm of life".

In reading this, it greatly emphasizes the fact that there is a big difference between prosperity as typically defined by the world (i.e. money, power, and wealth) versus true prosperity (the ability to use God's power to meet any of your needs). It also underscores the Bible's perspective that the "true riches "is the Power of God.

Just think about that for a moment. God's power is the only power that covers every area of your needs in life. Although money and influence may certainly qualify as important forms of power, neither can give you health or complete wholeness in every area of your life.

So the critical question is how do you access God's power? The short answer is through His Word. He uses His Word to release His Power:

      Isaiah 55:11 says... So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;             It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it       shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

      Hebrews 4:12-13 says...who being the brightness of His glory and the       express image of His person,and upholding all things by the word of His       power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right       hand of the Majesty on high.

There is a direct correlation between the amount of Word you have in you and your faith. The more you study and get revelation of the Word concerning any area of your life, the more faith you will have in that area. The more you can believe what the Word says about that area of your life, the more of God's power you will experience.

However it's necessary to get in position to hear what God is saying to you. Then by acting on what His Word says, you can access God's power in any situation in life,including prosperity. You may not have the answer to your financial situation, but God does. You just have to make sure you're in position to hear what He is saying:

      Isaiah 1:19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the       land;

      Mark 11:24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you       pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

      James 4:2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot       obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

Once you act on God's Word, the desires of your heart will begin to line up with       God. That's when He can then cause all grace to abound toward you.

      2 Corinthians 9:8 - And God is able to make all grace abound toward you,       that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an       abundance for every good work.

Take the first step, by getting your mind off of your situation. Think about how you can help to meet someone else's needs (i.e. do good works). If you know how to believe for debt relief, use your faith to help someone else in need of debt relief. Pray for a way to help others in your situation. Help others around you and you yourself will begin to grow as you reach out and help others in need.

As you do so, you will begin to experience an abundance of Grace that will not only help to meet the needs of others, but your own needs as well.
