Renew Your Mind with the Word of God

An important step to receiving prosperity is to renew your mind with the Word of God. Know that He has created you to resemble Him and to operate in His image and likeness. You were not created to think and behave as if you are not worthy of the best in life. In other words, you don't have to settle for an average mediocre life. You are a child of the King, and as such, you have the potential to excel in life.

I emphasize this point because, like some, you may have been taught that as a Christian you should not be concerned with receiving prosperity or that it's wrong to mange great wealth. Or while growing up you may have been told that you will never amount to anything or ever achieve any level of greatness.

The world has made every attempt to fill your mind with negative thoughts and to create an environment feeding you with doses of low self-esteem to block you from receiving prosperity as a Christian. The world wants you to believe you are relegated to a life of poverty and mediocrity and can never rise above your situation or your circumstances.

So how do you change from having a poverty-stricken mindset to a life full of expectation and poised for receiving prosperity?

The answer is by transforming and renewing your mind with the Word of God. Romans 12: 1-2 says…

      1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present       your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your       reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be       transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is       that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Transformation starts in the mind. Renewing your mind and your thought life is a vital step to receiving prosperity.

3 John 1: 2 says…

      2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just       as your soul prospers.

Your soul consists of your mind, will, and your emotions. John is saying that the extent to which your soul prospers will determine the extent to which you prosper in general, including your health.

In other words, you have to first affect your thought process if you want to prosper in any other area of your life. So you cannot go any further than your thoughts and you cannot think any further than what you know. So it behooves you to expose your soul to the Word of God in every area of your life.

I remember while growing up that my mom would constantly say to us "he can who thinks he can". Later in life, I realized why she did that. It was to instill in us the Biblical truth that your thought life influences what you do. Whatever you think about yourself is who you are. Proverbs 23:7 says…

      7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. " Eat and drink!" he says to you,       But his heart is not with you.

So if you're not learning new things daily and finding out what the Bible says, you will have arrested development. You will be limited by what you can think, be and do. You will keep doing the same old things and expecting different results (i.e. definition of insanity). Nothing different will happen unless you renew your mind to the reality of the Word of God.

If you want to change your finances, you have to renew your mind regarding what the Word of God says about finances and receiving prosperity. Likewise, if you want to prosper regarding your body, you have to educate yourself regarding the ways in which to have control over your physical self.

Hosea 4:6 says…

      6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected       knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you       have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

The world will tell you that what you don't know won't hurt you. But the Bible teaches that a lack of knowledge can and will destroy your money, health, marriage or any other area of your life.

So get into the presence of God in prayer until He speaks to you and confirms the things you read in the Bible and then act on them.

However, it's not just a lack of Word knowledge that will get you. You also need to be informed about natural things since you live in a natural body and in a natural world.

So it's important that you get information for yourself regarding how to manage your financial resources and how to manage your credit and how to be a good steward for receiving prosperity in your finances. It's also important to get information regarding nutrition and exercise for receiving prosperity in your body.
